HVAC Service Technician

POSITION TITLE: HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: RESIDENTIAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT
TITLE OF SUPERVISOR: RESIDENTIAL SERVICE MANAGER

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units for residential customers. Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.
  • Travel to job sites in service area and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
  • Be available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers.
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection form. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis.
  • Maintain proper stock, parts, tools and safety equipment in the vehicle.
  • Maintain and submit monthly mileage log forms.
  • Understand company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoice at job site. Electronically process credit card payments. Obtain customer signature at completion of job.
  • Document all installed equipment upon arrival: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
  • Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendation, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
  • Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
  • Identify and report to supervisor/comfort advisor potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services).
  • Ensure full customer satisfaction upon completion of work.
  • Complete all paperwork required by management, and record hours and all materials used.
  • Collect for work performed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and manuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
  • Hold a valid social security card, driver’s license, and clean driving record.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, neat appearance, which includes no visible tattoos or piercings.
  • Understand and follow proper safety techniques.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test(s) and physical as required by company
  • Lift up to 50 pounds; be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders, work from heights, work in small crawl spaces.
  • Maintain accurate time records and send to payroll when required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
To adequately perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly and routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, use hands, hear, and talk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to see colors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level is usually moderate but will vary. Continual interruptions and changing priorities will daily challenge an employee. This job requires the employee to work outside, often in extreme temperatures, so an employee must take precautions to remain safe in all weather conditions.

Lead Installer

POSITION TITLE: LEAD INSTALLER
DEPARTMENT: INSTALL DEPARTMENT
TITLE OF SUPERVISOR: INSTALL MANAGER

SUMMARY
The Lead Install Technician is responsible for the on-time, high-quality installation of HVAC equipment, duct systems, fittings, grilles, registers, diffusers, controls, and related equipment. He/she must identify and solve problems that might impede the completion of work within budgeted time. He/she provides feedback and suggestions to supervisors, salespeople, and others on ways to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction. He or she must complete approved repairs/improvements in a timely manner. The Installer must complete required paperwork and collect payments as needed. He or she must leave a clean, and orderly installation and must exceed our customer’s expectations so that they will always call us for their indoor comfort needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow defined installation procedures for HVAC equipment, according to company instructions/policy, manufacturer installation instructions, and salesperson notes.
  • Identify and solve problems that might prevent the completion of work safely and within budgeted time.
  • Complete repairs, improvements, or installations within budgeted hours, in accordance with company standards, while maintaining quality.
  • Start-up new equipment and verify correct operation.
  • Clean equipment and work area, leaving a first-class installation.
  • Ensure complete customer satisfaction upon completion of work.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise Install Helpers so that they may be promoted to Lead Install Technicians.
  • Provide sufficient knowledge, skills, training, and information to achieve peak performance, continuous improvement, and a positive, productive work environment consistent with company goals and objectives.
  • Complete all paperwork required by management, and record hours and all materials used.
  • Collect for work performed if applicable.
  • Keep the assigned service vehicle organized, clean, and properly stocked.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess one or more years of experience as an HVAC installer, maintenance, or service technician or have comparable education.
  • Follow/perform installation procedures for HVAC equipment and trouble-shoot problems.
  • Follow controls/wiring schematics.
  • Braze/solder/weld and perform minor field fabrication.
  • Communicate clearly in a friendly, personable way with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Hold an EPA certification.
  • Hold a valid social security card, driver’s license, and clean driving record.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, neat appearance, which includes no visible tattoos or piercings.
  • Pay strong attention to detail with a desire and ability to complete a job correctly the first time.
  • Understand and follow proper safety techniques.
  • Work any day of the week. Saturday’s if necessary but does not occur often
